W&J PRESIDENTS VETO PRIDE WIN

The Nationally Ranked #20, Slippery Rock Pride Men’s Hockey team hosted the #18th Ranked Washington & Jefferson Presidents for a late night tussle at the Bladerunners Ice Complex in Cranberry Twp, Pa. This is the third meeting of the two (CHMA) teams this year and would prove to be another close game.The Pride got off to an early start against the Presidents lighting the lamp 10:54 into the first period with a power play goal by Senior Tim Snyder. Presidents forward, Clint Lang, answered right back 5 minutes later with a power play tally to tie up the game. Second period action saw the Presidents score two even strength goals and one shorthanded goal as the Pride went down by three. The Pride got back on the board 14:00 minutes into the third period with Snyder scoring his second power play goal of the night. Sophmore Derek Rusbarsky brought the Pride to within 1 goal with just :51 seconds remaining in the game. The Pride pulled the goalie and put a sixth skater on the ice to try and tie up the game, but the Presidents Goalie, Jed Michael, turned away a flurry of shots in the last :51 seconds to seal a Presidents victory.
